New Patients
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes — we are currently welcoming new patients to Bushland Beach Medical Centre. To register, simply call reception on (07) 4788 9444 or book online for your first appointment.
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a valid photo ID (driver’s licence or passport), your Medicare card and any concession cards, a list of your current medications, and any previous medical records. If transferring from another practice, a summary from your previous GP is also helpful.
Is there paperwork to complete?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your first appointment to complete your new patient registration form. You can also ask reception to send you the form in advance.
Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
Appointments can be booked online 24/7 via HotDoc, or by calling our reception team on (07) 4788 9444 during opening hours.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Same-day and urgent appointments are often available — please call early in the morning to secure an appointment for that day.
How long is a standard appointment?
Standard appointments are 15 minutes. Please advise reception if you have multiple concerns or complex needs so a longer appointment can be arranged.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 2 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the time slot to another patient who may need care.
Prescriptions
Can I get a repeat prescription without seeing a doctor?
No — repeat prescriptions require a consultation with your GP. We do not issue prescriptions without an appointment, as your doctor must review your current health and medication needs for your safety.
Are electronic prescriptions (eScripts) available?
Yes, eScripts are available. Your GP can send your prescription directly to your preferred pharmacy electronically.
What should I bring to a prescription renewal appointment?
Please bring your current medication packaging and any relevant test results. If you have multiple medications to review, advise reception when booking so adequate time can be allocated.
Referrals & Specialist Letters
How do I get a specialist referral?
Referrals require a GP consultation. Your doctor will assess your needs and provide a referral to the most appropriate specialist. In most cases, a Medicare rebate applies to specialist consultations when referred by a GP.
Can I choose my preferred specialist?
Yes — please discuss your preferred specialist or hospital with your GP at your consultation. Workers’ compensation and DVA referrals are also available.
What should I bring to a referral appointment?
Bring any relevant test results or imaging reports, and a list of your current symptoms and medications. This helps your GP write the most accurate referral letter.
Telehealth
Do you offer telehealth consultations?
Yes — we offer telehealth consultations via video call for eligible existing patients. Telehealth is ideal for follow-up appointments, prescription reviews, mental health consultations, and other matters where a physical examination is not required.
Who is eligible for telehealth?
Telehealth is available to existing patients of the practice. It is generally not suitable for new patients or matters requiring a physical examination. Your GP will advise if telehealth is appropriate.
Does Medicare cover telehealth appointments?
A Medicare rebate may apply to eligible telehealth consultations. Please contact reception or check with your GP for details on your specific circumstances.
How do I join a telehealth video call?
Book via phone or our online booking system. You will receive a secure video link prior to your appointment.
